The 10 Most Expensive Luxury Penthouses

By on January 12, 2015

#3: Pierre Hotel Penthouse, New York, USA – $125 million

Unlike most of the penthouses on this list, the residence at the top of the Pierre Hotel in New York is about vintage class rather than modern flash. But as is the case with many things in the world, antique luxury can cost more than contemporary luxury.

The Pierre was constructed in 1930, and the penthouse is a throwback to a bygone era, in the best way possible.

The Grand Salon, the penthouse’s enormous, decadent living room, is considered by many to be the most exquisite privately owned room in the entire world, what with its ornate chandelier, large fireplace, 23-foot vaunted ceilings, and four adjoining terraces, all of which overlook Central Park.

What’s more, the Pierre’s penthouse has 16 rooms, 6 bathrooms, a Swedish sauna, and a library, complete with original 18th-century paneling.

While it may not be the most modern penthouse, or the largest, the Pierre’s rooftop slice of heaven offers a level of elegance which is truly unmatched, justifying its obscene $125 million listing.

#2: One Hyde Park Penthouse, London, UK – $290 million

From the $125 million of the Pierre Hotel, we quickly jump to this $290 million (not a typo) penthouse at One Hyde Park in London’s Knightsbridge District.

While this unit has yet to sell, the One Hyde Park development has already sold several properties in excess of $200 million, easily recouping their $1.5 billion investment, with many properties still unsold.

So what does a $290 million penthouse get you?

Well, this two-story penthouse has 24-hour security provided by British Special Forces, a panic room, a wine tasting room, his and hers private study rooms, a library, a gym, and 5 bedrooms.

All told, the penthouse covers nearly 6,000 square feet, making it an enormous, luxurious unit in one of the nicest neighborhoods in London.

Next time you win the Powerball jackpot, keep One Hyde Park in mind.
