The 10 Most Expensive Golf Courses in the World

By on January 8, 2015

Golf is a sport that is decidedly upper-class on its own, and has long been a favorite pastime of wealthy businessmen.

With most golf courses costing upwards of $100 for a few hours of entertainment (or frustration, for most amateur golfers), golf is intended to be a somewhat exclusive activity for the wealthiest members of our society.

However, there are some golf courses that are a step above the rest.

The courses on the following list are some of the most difficult, gorgeous, and exclusive links in the world, and they have the price tags to prove it.

Read on to see the 10 most expensive golf courses that you can play.

#10: Kingsbarns Golf Links – St. Andrews, Scotland ($300 per person, per round)

This majestic oceanside golf course on the Eastern Coast of Scotland was designed by Kyle Phillips, and is one of several courses in the self-proclaimed “Home of Golf.”

Indeed, the game of golf was first played on the Old Course at St. Andrews in the early fifteenth century, making the town a veritable Mecca for golf enthusiasts.

In addition to being beautiful and historic, Kingsbarns Golf Links plays host to the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship annually.

While the course – in its present, luxurious state – is fairly new, golf has been played at the location since the 1700s.

With a unique blend of tranquil, beautiful scenery and years of golfing history, Kingsbarns Golf Links provides a truly special golfing experience – but it carries with it a steep, $300 price tag.
