5 Cars with the Most Expensive Insurance

By on April 27, 2015

#2: Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG – $3,573/year

With a base price of $215,000, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG convertible is wildly out of the range of affordability for the vast majority of American consumers. With a beastly V-12 engine and 621 horsepower, this car is Mercedes-Benz’s finest, which no small feat.

And as you might expect, Mercedes-Benz’s most expensive car is also the most expensive Mercedes to insure, with a steep figure of $3,573 per annum for car insurance. This car is a head-turner for sure, with its raw power and elegant, luxurious features, but you might turn plenty of heads in disbelief when you tell them you pay more than $3.5k per year to insure it.

In any case, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG is an all-around masterpiece, and for the mega-rich, the cost of the car – and its insurance – is well worth it.

#1: Nissan GT-R Nismo – $3,574

The most expensive car to insure is not necessarily what you’d expect. It is not a car from a traditional luxury automaker like Mercedes, Porsche, or BMW; rather, the most expensive car insurance on wheels belongs to the Nissan GT-R Nismo.

Nissan’s high-performance track car is $3,574 per year to insure, largely owing to its insane abilities for speed and general badassery and recklessness. Starting at a price of $149,000, the Nissan GT-R Nismo is a very expensive ride from a company that generally makes more affordable cars.

But the Nissan GT-R Nismo is different from all other Nissans. This 600-horsepower, twin-turbo bottle rocket can do 0-60 in just under 3 seconds, which is virtually unheard of for any car that doesn’t have a fancy Italian name in front of it.

Due to its (very and comparatively) reasonable affordability and all-out SPEED, THE Nissan GT-R Nismo will cost you more than any other vehicle when it comes to car insurance.
