10 Obscenely Expensive Children’s Gifts

 #3: Stefano Canturi’s Diamond Barbie Doll – $302,500

Barbie might be the most ubiquitous children’s toy of all time, at least for young girls. But this Barbie doll is truly one of a kind.

In 2010, Australian jewelry designer Stefano Canturi classed Barbie up just a little bit, turning the $20 plastic doll into a $302,500 masterpiece.

As you might have guessed, such an upgrade included a little bit of work, and a whole lot of diamonds.

Canturi’s one-of-a-kind Barbie came outfitted with a diamond necklace that costs more than the average American family makes in a year, with a one-carat pink diamond as the centerpiece.

The good news here is that the proceeds from the sale of the world’s most expensive Barbie went to cancer research. But if you make a good enough offer, maybe you can snag this Barbie for your daughter’s next birthday.

#2: Steiff’s Louis Vuitton Teddy Bear – $1.87 million

The most expensive teddy bear in the world is this fashion-forward bear made out of a collaboration between Steiff Teddy Bears and renowned designer Louis Vuitton.

So how do you make a teddy bear with a price tag approaching 2 million dollars? Well, you start with the essentials – gold-lined fur and a mouth made out of solid gold, much like the previous bear on this list. Then, like the other bear, you construct the teddy’s eyes out of diamonds and sapphires.

To really set this bear apart though, you deck it out in Louis Vuitton apparel, complete with a Louis Vuitton suitcase.

Finally, to really jack up the value, you make this bear one-of-a-kind, and never produce another like it, which is what Steiff did.

To free this teddy bear from a museum, you’d need to spend more than $2 million to get anyone to listen to your request.
