By on March 2, 2015

This week, Forbes released their 2015 rankings of the world’s wealthiest billionaires.

While there were many newcomers to the overall list – including Michael Jordan – the wealthiest of the wealthy remained pretty stagnant, with just a slight reshuffling of position. It’s hard to unthrone people with fortunes in the realm of these five men.

The five wealthiest men in the world, all with a net worth of well over $50 billion, aren’t going anywhere for a long, long time.

Read on to see who made the cut for 2015’s five wealthiest men. WARNING: This list might cause extreme jealousy and envy, since you will never make a 1,000th of what these people are worth. Behold, the five wealthiest people in the world in 2015.

#5: Larry Ellison – $54.3 Billion

The fifth-wealthiest man in the world in 2015 is Larry Ellison, the founder and CEO of software company Oracle. Ellison is a self-made billionaire, reaping the benefits of the enormous corporation he started in 1977.

Ellison’s story is particularly impressive, as the billionaire has never met his biological father, and he was raised in a middle class Chicago family that lived a very different lifestyle than his incredible wealth now affords.

In addition to Oracle, Ellison is a sailing enthusiast, and his Oracle Team USA won the America’s Cup sailing championship in both 2010 and 2013. Ellison is also the proud owner of the Hawaiian island of Lanai, where he is behind the island’s entire tourism industry.

Ellison is a perfect example of the American Dream, as he is truly a man who came from nothing and paved his own way to enormous wealth.
