10 Most Expensive Engagement Rings of All Time

#9: Mariah Carey ($2.5 million)

Mariah Carey got engaged to fellow celebrity Nick Cannon in 2008, and Cannon, despite being about a decade younger than his fiance, held nothing back in giving her one of the most expensive engagement rings ever made.

Cannon spent $2.5 million on Carey’s luxurious engagement ring, which features more than 17 carats of diamonds.

The ring features 61 diamonds in total, highlighted by a 10-carat centerpiece – an enormous pink diamond that represents up most of the ring’s incredible value.

There are also 2 large half-moon diamonds, and 58 single-cut pink diamonds surrounding the monster jewel.

This $2.5 million purchase seems to have been a waste; however, as Cannon and Carey have apparently filed for divorce after six years of marriage. I can only imagine that Carey is going to go straight to the pawn shop with this ring.

#8: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis ($2.6 million)

Jackie Kennedy Onassis was married to two very powerful men in her lifetime, and this $2.6 million engagement ring did not come from the former President of the United States.

After John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963, his widow Jackie waited five years to remarry, eventually joining in matrimony with Greek shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis in 1968.

Onassis, a man of enormous wealth, had no problem proposing to Jackie Kennedy with this $2.6 million engagement ring, which featured over 40 carats of diamonds, cut from a rare 601-carat rough diamond that was found in South Africa.

Only 16 cuts off of this enormous rock were ever made, making the diamonds forged from it all the more rare and valuable.

What did Jackie do with the incredibly expensive ring? She wore it two times, and then locked it in a bank vault. Probably a good choice for a $2.6 million item.
